West Ham's £3.4m bid for 'Diamond' Job fuels Reiss Nelson chase

West Ham have submitted a €4m (about £3.4m) bid for 20‑year‑old Kongsvinger winger Daniel Job, the player described by the club as a "diamond", while also entering talks with Arsenal over winger Reiss Nelson. The offer was reported on Aug 15, 2026 at 7:15 PM GMT+1.

The Hammers are rebuilding after relegation, having lost Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes. They need fresh depth out wide, and Job’s current season tally of seven goals and eight assists – 15 goal contributions in just 16 league games – makes him an attractive target.

Diamond' Job praised by club officials

Sporting director Espen Nystuen called Job "a diamond that we hope we can polish and refine a little so that it becomes good". Kongsvinger coach Johan Wennberg added that he has "very great faith" in Job and has "hardly seen him lose the ball" since his arrival.

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo said, "Who comes must bring us something different and improve us. I think we can afford some time (but) not too much," underscoring the club’s cautious approach despite the need for new signings.

What the bids mean for West Ham

The €4m bid for Job would be slightly higher than the reported £3m expected for Nelson, indicating West Ham are willing to spend beyond the usual budget to secure quality. The club has already signed Manor Solomon and is close to finalising Arne Engels from Celtic for £22m, showing a broader strategy to replace departed talent.

If the deals go through, Job would add proven goal‑creating ability to a side seeking to bounce back, while Nelson would provide additional width. Both players could help the Hammers compete for promotion and re‑establish themselves in the Premier League.
