Thomas Tuchel praises Harry Kane after record Nations League performance
Thomas Tuchel, England's coach, praised the 33‑year‑old Bayern star Harry Kane after the 3‑0 win against the Czech Republic in the Nations League. The striker broke the English record of Peter Shilton with his 125th international appearance and was highly praised for it by his coach and teammates.
Record performance and goals
At Wembley Stadium, Kane led the England side to victory with two goals. His first cross resulted in an own goal by the Czechs, and he scored the second goal himself. This brought him to his 125th international cap, equalling Peter Shilton, who previously held the record.
Coach and team comments
Tuchel said after the match: “Incredible. He deserves this stage, he deserves this praise.” He also emphasized that Kane reached “a very special level” on that day. Fellow 23‑year‑old teammate Jude Bellingham added: “He is the best English player to ever wear the shirt… He scores goals on a conveyor belt, goes deep into the depth and wins the duels.”
Kane's own assessment
Kane himself called the evening one of the highlights of his career. “Over the course of a career there are so many milestones. This even exceeds my boldest dreams. To be at the top together with 125 caps is an enormous privilege,” he said. He also stressed that he loves playing for the England national team and that he would gladly attend the training camps at any time.
