Spanish manager Arteta signs long‑term deal as Arsenal hail unique bond

Mikel Arteta has signed a new long‑term contract with Arsenal, confirmed on the Gunners’ official website today. The Spanish manager said the club is "unique" and that he and his family feel a special bond with the team and its supporters.

Contract details and record

The agreement runs until June 2030, extending the deal first signed when he was appointed head coach in December 2019. In his tenure Arteta has overseen 361 matches across all competitions, achieving a win percentage of 62.05%, the highest of any full‑time manager in Arsenal’s history.

Arsenal’s statement praised the "shared belief that the progress we’ve made and last season’s success is the beginning of a special period in our history" and highlighted the club’s recent triumphs, including the Premier League title and a Champions League final appearance.

Leadership praise

Co‑chairs Stan and Josh Kroenke described the partnership as an "incredible journey" and said they are "proud of everything we have achieved since he returned to the club in 2019". They added that Arteta “has a deep understanding of Arsenal’s values and carries them in his heart”.

CEO Richard Garlick echoed the sentiment, calling the moment "important" and asserting that Arsenal aim to "create a winning era together with Mikel" while pursuing long‑term ambitions.

Arteta’s own words to Arsenal.com underscored his gratitude: “It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal… we have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime.”

The manager also reflected on the club’s transformation, noting how Arsenal have moved from a period of struggling to qualify for Europe to becoming Premier League champions and reaching a European final, marking the first league crown in 22 years.
