Arteta signs new deal to keep Arsenal on course until 2030
Mikel Arteta has signed a fresh contract that binds him to Arsenal until the summer of 2030, securing his position as head coach for an eleventh consecutive season. The agreement was finalised after his tenure, due for renewal at the end of the campaign, was widely expected to be a formality.
Contract formalised for an eleventh year
The new deal sets the 44‑year‑old Spaniard to extend his reign into an eleventh year. All contractual terms have now been finalised.
If Arteta sees the contract through, he will become the third‑longest‑serving Arsenal manager in history. Only Arsene Wenger and George Allison have overseen longer spells at the club.
‘It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal,’ Arteta said. He added that the club’s unique character makes him feel honoured to lead it through a special period in its 140‑year history. The manager also spoke of the bond with supporters, describing the moment as a proud one for him and his family.

Achievements under Arteta
Arteta took charge in 2019 and guided the Gunners to their first league title in 22 years last season. He also steered Arsenal to a Champions League final for the first time in two decades, before losing on penalties to Paris St Germain.
Arsenal began their Premier League defence with a perfect record before a shock 3‑0 loss at Brighton ahead of the international break. The backroom staff have also agreed new contracts that align with Arteta’s extension.
Co‑chairs Stan and Josh Kroenke praised the partnership, saying they share a special bond with Mikel and are proud of the achievements since his return. They highlighted his deep understanding of Arsenal’s values and his commitment to building on past successes.
Arsenal return to Premier League action with a home match against Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. After a defeat to the Seagulls, they sit three points behind Manchester City.
