Sky: Cagliari's Mazzocchi Idea stalls without Zappa

Cagliari’s pursuit of Napoli defender Pasquale Mazzocchi is on hold, as Sky reports the Sardinian club will only seal the deal if Gabriele Zappa departs, leaving a domino effect on their defensive line. The conditional move threatens to stall Cagliari’s squad reinforcement plans for the ongoing Serie A campaign.

The transfer market of Napoli continues to animate on the departure front, with several players listed as potential exits. Il calciomercato del Napoli therefore keeps clubs monitoring the situation closely.

Conditional move hinges on Zappa

Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport explains that the Idea of reinforcing the back line depends on Zappa’s sale, stating Cagliari will only act on the blue‑shirt defender if the red‑shirted full‑back leaves. This domino effect links the two defensive positions tightly.

Zappa, the red‑shirted defender, enjoys several estimatori on the market and his eventual departure would free the ideal slot for the Neapolitan player. His status therefore becomes the key variable in the transfer equation.

Napoli awaits Cagliari’s decision

Per Mazzocchi, the move would provide greater continuity after months spent in the shadow of the Vesuvio. Napoli is ready to evaluate the economic conditions of the operation as soon as Cagliari defines Zappa’s future.

Stampa A− A+ reported the ongoing diplomatic talks between the two clubs, noting that negotiations remain active while the first piece of the puzzle is awaited.

The clubs continue their dialogue, awaiting the first decisive step that will set the transfer in motion. Napoli will monitor developments closely and act once the Sardinian side confirms Zappa’s fate.
