Romano Schmid puts Frosinone ahead early, but it is not enough

On Sunday Frosinone had to settle for a 4-4 draw at Atalanta Bergamo in the eighth round of the Italian Serie A football league after an early double from Romano Schmid. Schmid gave the promoted side the lead already in the first minute with 1-0 and scored his second goal in the 17th minute – both his first league goals since his summer transfer from Werder Bremen.

Atalanta equalized in the 33rd minute via a penalty by Ederson, after Nikola Krstovic had already scored the 1-1 for the home side in the 14th minute and netted his second goal just before the break to make it 3-2. Thus the match stood at 3-2 for Bergamo at halftime.

Giacomo Calò restored the equality for Frosinone in the 48th minute after the restart. Eljif Elmas then increased Atalanta’s lead to 4-3, but the substituted former Salzburg player Aleksa Terzić struck in the 82nd minute to make it 4-4 and secure the point, while Austria national team player Florian Grillitsch went off injured.

Inter Milan turns defeat into victory

At the same time Inter Milan turned a 0-1 deficit against Fiorentina in stoppage time into a 2-1 win, thanks to Marcus Thuram in the 91st minute and Piotr Zielinski via a penalty in the 97th minute. The defending champion therefore remains unbeaten at the top of the table.

Inter now lead ahead of level‑on‑points Lazio Rome, while AS Roma from Rome remain four points behind. The result keeps Inter at the top of the table, while Lazio Rome stay level on points.
