Bayern seal £400,000‑a‑week deal for Kane despite shorter term

Bayern seal £400,000‑a‑week deal for Kane despite shorter term

Harry Kane and Bayern Munich have reached a verbal agreement on a new contract that pays £400,000 a week and runs until 2029, twelve months less than the England striker had hoped for.

Why Bayern moved quickly

Since joining the Allianz Arena in 2023, the former Tottenham forward has broken numerous records, including scoring his 100th Bundesliga goal in his 98th appearance – a mark that stood since 1977. His prolific form helped Bayern claim two Bundesliga titles, a German Cup and a German Super Cup, and has placed him among the favourites for the Ballon d’Or later this year.

Club director of sport Max Eberl said behind‑the‑scenes talks have gone well and Bayern aim to finalise the extension before the Ballon d’Or ceremony on 26 October.

Contract details and personal factors

The deal, reported by The Times, offers a two‑year extension rather than the three‑year term Kane desired, with his current contract due to expire at the end of the season.

Kane, 33, and his family have embraced life in Germany, reinforcing his willingness to stay despite the shorter length.

Off the pitch, the striker’s commitment means he could leave on a free transfer at season’s end, yet no interest has been voiced in him seeking a new club.

Samuel Meade, Sports Brand Writer, noted that the £400,000‑a‑week figure reflects Bayern’s intent to retain their England frontman as they look ahead to future campaigns.
