Roma target Quinten Timber as Marseille’s money problems grow
AS Roma are reportedly interested in signing 25‑year‑old Dutch midfielder Quinten Timber from Olympique de Marseille, a player who arrived in France for €4.5 million last winter and has featured in 16 matches this season, even as Besiktas JK also vies for his signature.
Aware of Marseille’s financial difficulties, Roma hope to capitalise on the situation to secure Timber at a favourable price.
Nevertheless, the Utrecht-born midfielder does not rank at the top of the Giallorossi’s shortlist, with Celtic’s 22‑year‑old Arne Engels and Botafogo’s 25‑year‑old Danilo Santos currently listed as higher priorities.
Roma set July deadline as they chase Dutch striker Summerville
Timber joined OM from Feyenoord for the €4.5 million fee last winter, making 16 appearances in the 2025‑26 campaign, and remains under contract until 2030. If a deal materialises, it could shorten the Dutchman’s spell in France, while Roma would add depth to their midfield, albeit with the player likely remaining a secondary option.
