Stavanger Kramer defends Olise after chaotic Champions League duel
In the home stadium of FC Bayern Munich, a turbulent Champions League duel against the Norwegian underdog Viking Stavanger took place on Tuesday evening, ending in a 3‑3 draw. After a 0‑2 deficit, the Bavarian side turned the game around before Michael Olise was sent off in the closing stages.
Olise's Misstep and the Opponents' Reaction
Olise, who touched the ball with his hand at the decisive moment, was punished by the referee with a red card. The Norwegians used the numerical advantage to equalise. Immediately after the match, much criticism was directed at Olise, but not all voices shared this view.
Kramer's Understanding Statement
Christoph Kramer spoke after the match to Prime Video and showed understanding for Olise. “So the Tripic, right. He wanted it. We are all professional footballers and it shouldn't happen either. I just say, it's a millisecond and everyone is also human and feels it that way,” he explained.
Kramer continued: “I just thought, that would have happened to me as well. Because he has such a provocative face, you think: Wow, kid, you’re really getting on my nerves right now. That’s why I feel for Olise 100 percent.”
Bayern’s early lapse costs them against Viking Stavanger
Stavanger's Zlatko Tripic Comments
Viking captain Zlatko Tripic, who had Olise in his sights throughout the match, celebrated after the dismissal. He told Norwegian broadcaster TV2: “It’s great that a player like this, who will most likely win the Ballon d’Or someday, gets a little annoyed about a boy from Oftebro and Lyngdal.”
Tripic, 33, previously played one and a half years for Greuther Fürth before moving to Norway.
Consequences for Bayern Munich
Olise will miss the upcoming Champions League match against FC Arsenal, further weakening the German record champions. After the unexpected point loss, Bayern now urgently needs another result to progress in the competition.
Bayern concede late equaliser a man down against Viking Stavanger
The match against Augsburg last weekend was also part of Bayern’s recent record, which is now overshadowed by this point loss.
