Bayern stars sent off red: Zlatko Tripic sparks ball row with Bayern

After the 0-2 draw against Augsburg in the Bundesliga, Bayern captain Joshua Kimmich again received a quick concession and no victory – and the Champions League match ended in a 3-3 draw against Viking Stavanger, which was overshadowed by a "stupid" yellow‑red card for Michael Olise.

Champions League slip-up in Stavanger

In Norway the duel between Bayern and Viking Stavanger ended only 3-3, with Gianni Stensness scoring for the Scandinavian club after just 71 seconds. Michael Olise was punished with a yellow‑red card after a ball‑tussle with Zlatko Tripic, during which Olise threw the ball at Tripic's head.

Vincent Kompany criticises the behaviour

Vincent Kompany addressed the Bayern stars immediately after the match and said: "You don't need to hide things like that. There's no incredibly clever strategy. The whole team knows it, Michael knows it too, and then it has to be addressed directly." He added that too big mistakes were made in crucial moments.

The 40‑year‑old Kompany further emphasized that the team had shown good ideas in the away game, but the decisive errors must not occur. "If you make another mistake in a decisive moment, you will be punished," he summed up the situation.

Internal reactions and outlook

Sport director Max Eberl refrained from commenting on a possible internal fine for Olise and said that it would be discussed "calmly". Kimmich expressed again his displeasure after the 2-2 draw in Augsburg over the missed chances and emphasized that too many mistakes were made.

After two games Bayern sit on four points and are in third place in the Bundesliga – a result that does not meet the high standards of the record champions. The next match is on Saturday against Leipzig, another top‑level game that will further test the current form.
