Spanish press celebrates Bayern after triumphant win over Atletico

Eurasia Sport reported that FC Bayern, after four matches, have collected eight points in the Champions League and are therefore once again on a direct path to round‑of‑16 qualification. The Spanish press cheered on Tuesday evening, when FC Bayern defeated Atletico Madrid 2‑0 at the Metropolitano, underscoring the Munich club's return to the Champions League.

The Munich side were under considerable pressure after two draws in the series. Nevertheless, they managed to triumph on Tuesday evening at the Metropolitano against Atletico Madrid.

Bayern dominated the match from the start. After a goalless first half, they piled on in the second 45 minutes.

Despite numerous absences, they secured a 2‑0 win. Lennart Karl opened the scoring in the 54th minute with a clever ball win and chip to make it 1‑0.

Twenty minutes later, Konrad Laimer increased the lead to the final score. His goal brought the final result to 2‑0.

Spanish plaudits for Bayern

The Spanish press raved about the “Bestia Negra”, which had taken the field in white on Tuesday evening. They highlighted the impressive manner of the performance.

titled: “Bayern subdues Atletico and holds a mirror to it – a perfectly oiled machine that this Atletico cannot match”. The newspaper emphasized that Atletico could not withstand the pressure.

wrote: “Bayern was a steam hammer – both football‑wise and in determination too big for Atletico”. They portrayed FC Bayern as overpowering.

The Spanish daily AS explained: “A top team conquers the Metropolitano”. They thus described Bayern as a top team.

The home‑strong Rojiblancos had previously gone unbeaten in nine consecutive games. Against Bayern they eventually had to accept a defeat.

While the hosts had few chances, the Atleti went for long periods without notable scoring opportunities. The visitors dominated the game for almost the entire duration.

Bayern's internal hurdles

The head coach was absent after having previously collapsed. Midfield leader Joshua Kimmich mourns his father.

Numerous attacking stars are injured. The bosses around sporting director Max Eberl radiate confidence, and the squad appears even more tightly knit.

After the match, Laimer emphasized: “We went into the game knowing what we are capable of; we showed over 90 minutes how we want to play football”. His statement underscored the confidence in the squad.
