Bredlow doubts alleged fan whistles at Istanbul Stadium

VfB striker Fabian Bredlow raised the question after the 0‑2 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League in Istanbul whether the loud whistles in the stadium came from the fans, while a provocative social‑media post had already caused excitement before kickoff.
Before the match: Social‑Media provocation
The VfB social‑media department posted a photo of a speaker system in the stadium, accompanied by three pondering emojis. Some Galatasaray fans interpreted it as a provocation, which the ‑ and ‑ editors reported. VfB deleted the post, apologized publicly, stated that it did not intend to hurt anyone, and thanked for the hospitality.
The 31‑year‑old goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow said: “I really don’t know if they were all generated by people.” He explained that the noise environment in the Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi at the start of the match made communication on the pitch difficult. Later on he turned down the volume, but continued to hear well.
Stuttgart's unbeaten Champions League run ends against Galatasaray
After the match Galatasaray accepted the apology and wrote: “Thanks! We look forward to a great game.” Shortly thereafter the club posted a video on X in which a speaker played a song with the German line “Auf Wiedersehen!”
