PSG's record‑breaking four‑goal blitz reshapes Champions League race

Paris Saint‑Germain have become the fastest side ever to reach four goals in Champions League history, a record set during their 6‑0 demolition of Villarreal that also leaves them top of the group with a perfect twelve points from four matches.
Fastest four‑goal burst
Luis Enrique’s side took just 16 minutes and two seconds to go 4‑0 up at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Tuesday night. Joao Neves opened the scoring in the ninth minute after a corner. Three minutes later Desire Doue punished a mistake from keeper Peter Gulacsi to make it 2‑0.
Senny Mayulu added the third goal in the 13th minute. Fabian Ruiz sealed the record with the fourth goal after 17 minutes.
PSG storm early to stun Villarreal in Champions League
Opta report that the previous record was held by Real Madrid, who needed 20 minutes to score four against Dinamo Zagreb in November 2011. Ruiz doubled his tally in the 50th minute to make it 5‑0. Seventeen‑year‑old David Boly scored on his Champions League debut in the 78th minute to complete the 6‑0 win.
The win makes PSG the first team to score three away goals in the first 13 minutes of a Champions League game. They have now netted 20 goals in four matches, an average of five per game and the best scoring start in the competition’s history, surpassing the previous best of 17 in 2017/18. Paris Saint‑Germain also matched Lyon’s French record of 14 unbeaten Champions League games from 2004‑2006 and sit alone with a perfect twelve points as they chase a third consecutive title.
