PSG's onslaught shatters Villarreal in the UEFA Ligue des Champions

On Tuesday, Paris Saint‑Germain stormed Villarreal in the fourth group‑stage match of the UEFA Champions League, turning a 4‑0 half‑time lead into a 6‑0 triumph that highlighted the Parisiens’ offensive firepower while exposing the Spanish side’s defensive frailties in a display that left the home crowd stunned.

Four goals in the opening minutes

PSG ripped open the scoring within the first seventeen minutes, netting four times as Villarreal’s back line faltered. João Neves opened the account after a corner, drilling the ball home from close range. A mistake by goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi set up Desire Doué, who struck the second goal. Just a minute later, Senny Mayulu capitalised on another defensive lapse to make it three. Fabian Ruiz completed the quartet, finding the net at the 17th minute to make it 4‑0. Some home supporters left the stadium before the twenty‑minute mark as the onslaught continued.

Second‑half dominance and group implications

Ruiz doubled his tally in the second half, scoring in the 50th minute after a deft touch. David Boly, aged seventeen, added the sixth goal in the 78th minute, redirecting the ball off a defender’s leg. The victory lifted PSG to a perfect twelve points, placing them top of the group stage standings. They will host Roma in their next group match on 25 November. Villarreal, with only one win, travel to Slavia Prague on the same day for their following fixture. The result underscored PSG’s strength in the Ligue des Champions UEFA.

The result made Villarreal the first club in Champions League history to concede four goals inside the opening seventeen minutes. PSG enjoyed 75 percent possession at half‑time, while Villarreal’s first shot on target came only in added time of the first half. Villarreal’s line‑up lacked key players such as Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Marquinhos and Dembélé, and featured Pau Navarro in defence. Con the high press, PSG repeatedly forced errors that turned into goals. The match also marked a historic moment for the competition, as no previous Champions League encounter had seen such a rapid scoring burst.
