Kompany condemns Olise's red card after Bayern's shaky comeback
On the Champions League night in Munich, Bayern Munich turned a 2‑0 deficit into a 2‑3 lead, but Michael Olise’s second yellow card put the team in trouble and he will miss the next match against Arsenal.
Olise’s foul and dismissal
After a comeback with two goals from Harry Kane and one from Luis Díaz, Olise received a yellow card for a foul in the 73rd minute. He then threw the ball at the face of Viking captain Zlatko Tripic, received a second yellow card and had to leave the field.
Kompany’s strong reaction
Vincent Kompany, the Belgian coach of Bayern, called Olise’s dismissal “extremely stupid” and emphasized that provocations are no excuse. He said: “Olise will always be provoked by his opponents, but that must not be an excuse. This is 100 % his own fault.” Kompany added that the opponent’s number 10 was smarter than Olise.
Bayern miss comeback against Viking and lose Olise after red card
Because of Olise’s departure, Bayern could not score the equaliser in the final minute against Viking Stavanger. The consequence is that Olise will miss the next Champions League match against Arsenal.
