Bayern miss comeback against Viking and lose Olise after red card
Vincent Kompany saw Bayern Munich experience a dramatic evening in Stavanger: after a 2-0 deficit the club fought back to 3-2, but a red card for Michael Olise in the 74th minute forced them into a 3-3 draw against Viking Stavanger.
Early lead for Viking
The match started with a header from Gianni Stensness in the second minute, putting Viking ahead 1-0 early on. After 38 minutes Peter Christiansen found the ball in the penalty area and made it 2-0.
Bayern’s comeback and VAR intervention
At halftime Kompany made three substitutions, but it was the VAR decision that awarded Bayern a penalty. Harry Kane converted the penalty and brought the score to 2-1. Six minutes later Kane himself headed the equaliser, after which Luis Díaz in the 71st minute, via a pass from Kane, scored the winning goal (3-2).
Olise’s red card and the late goal
Three minutes after the goal Michael Olise lost control, threw the ball into an opponent’s face and received two yellow cards followed by a red card from referee Georgi Kabakov. Bayern had to play the final stage with ten men. In the 90th minute Zlatko Tripic delivered a cross to Herman Haugen, who headed the equaliser for Viking (3-3).
