Inter aim to erase loss to Bruges at San Siro in the Champions

Coach Cristian Chivu said that Inter's next match against Club Brugge, played tonight at San Siro, is the chance to erase the recent defeat suffered by Real Madrid in the Champions League. The manager emphasized that the dream of winning the most prestigious trophy requires courage, daily work and the ability to turn imagination into reality.

The weight of the Nerazzurri ambitions

Chivu stated that “there is no money that can buy you a trophy, nor a coach or players that guarantee this victory”. For him, the gap between dreaming of a cup and lifting it is bridged only by individual and collective improvement, not by investments or promises. Inter, according to the coach, must keep concentration high for all ninety minutes against an opponent who “looks for the ball, presses high and sends many men forward to attack”.

Players' conditions and tactical choices

In the pre‑match, Chivu updated the status of some starters: Hakan Çalhanoğlu is back in shape after the knock he suffered in the league, while the young Spence has regained confidence thanks to the minutes played against Parma. The coach also defended Alessandro Bastoni, stating that “he didn’t have to prove anything to anyone” and reaffirming the defender’s value for Inter and for the Italian national team.

The coach highlighted the importance of internal competition, stating that all players, starters and reserves, must feel responsible and ready to step in when needed, especially in a season where matches come every three days.

According to Chivu, the response to Madrid’s defeat cannot be based on fear: “If we have to lose, we must choose how to lose, not the others”. The result matters, but so does the way the team achieves it, with intensity, clarity and the ability to enjoy themselves without forgetting the weight of what’s at stake.

In summary, Inter must show that it can attack, read moments of difficulty and prevent opponents from taking control, staying true to its identity. Only then the “great European ambition” can translate into concrete victories.
