Allegri on Sky: Anguissa and Alisson return, formation from the bar

On the eve of the Champions League clash against Villarreal, Massimiliano Allegri appeared on the Sky Sport microphones to present the match and update on the team’s condition. The coach of Napoli spoke about player management, the starting lineup and the aim of securing valuable points in Spain.

Goal in Spain and opponent not to be underestimated

The aim in Spain is to secure valuable points in the Champions, but Villarreal is an opponent not to be underestimated. “We must try to get points because it is the second Champions match, against Villarreal it will not be easy because they are a tough side and come from a good game against Real,” Allegri said.

Tactics, formation and squad returns

Allegri downplayed the importance of the formation, calling it “bar talk rather than pitch talk”. He then confirmed that soon we will also have Anguissa and Alisson back, adding that patience will be needed to restore the best condition of the unavailable players.

The starting eleven is still to be defined; McTominay could start from the first minute. “It is possible, but I have not yet firmly decided the eleven. Tomorrow morning I will try to picture the match also in light of the changes,” the coach explained, who does not rule out further rotations.

Finally, Allegri spoke about the possible coexistence of McTominay and De Bruyne, two players from whom Napoli expects a lot. “Good players must play together. McTominay has not played for a while, De Bruyne arrived on August 5, time is needed,” he reiterated.
