Rafa Marin explains why he's at ease with Allegri and staying Napoli
Rafa Marin, defender of Napoli, spoke yesterday at a press conference in Spain, on the eve of the Champions League clash against Villarreal, saying he feels comfortable with Massimiliano Allegri. Two years after his arrival, the player described the period as difficult but formative.
Growth and Maturity
The midfielder recalls his first year at Napoli, describing it as tough, and the following season at Villarreal as crucial for his development. “I grew both in that first year at Napoli and at Villarreal, it was wonderful,” he said.
Now he returns to Napoli more mature and prepared, ready to give his all for the team. “I have come back to Napoli more mature, more prepared, I feel ready to give as much as possible for Napoli,” he added.
Tactical Vision and Future Plans
Marin praises Allegri’s style, based on ball possession and a high defensive line. “Allegri enhances his style of play by focusing heavily on ball possession and the desire to always play on the feet,” he explained, emphasizing that the system is “quite attacking and works.”

The player also drew a comparison with former coach Antonio Conte, describing both as “exceptional managers” and without criticism. However, he clarified that “this year I feel more comfortable” with Allegri.
Marin admitted he feared limited playing time because of strong competition in the squad, but discovered he could still fit in. “I was aware that I might find little space because there was a lot of competition, but I didn’t think I would end up with as little space as it turned out to be,” he said.
The fondest memory remains the league title, while the move to Villarreal allowed him to mature further. “My goal is to win something every year, but doing it in the club’s centenary would be even more special,” he declared.
In his integration, Amir Rrahmani’s experience has been decisive: “Amir is extraordinary, he has experience in making things easy. He is helping me a lot in guiding me in defense.” With these words, Marin confirms his desire to permanently secure his place in the squad.
