Ghilardi claims pressure fuels his best for the Giallorossi

Daniele Ghilardi, the Giallorossi number 87, said he thrives when the stakes are high after his first goal of the season was ruled out for off‑side by a few centimetres against Slovan Bratislava. The defender, who has seen limited minutes under Gian Piero Gasperini, remained confident in his mentality.
The incident occurred in the second half when Ghilardi found space inside the box and struck a low shot, only for the assistant referee to signal off‑side by a margin of a few centimetres, nullifying what would have been his opening tally.
In a brief interview with Ali‑Lavoro, the former Verona centre back said: “I perform at my best under pressure. Discipline, personality and talent—that’s the order for me.” He added, “If I’m exhausted but I can still give something I stay on the pitch; if I have cramps it’s right to let others come on.” Gasperini sees Ghilardi as a viable backup to seasoned defenders Mancini, Ndicka, Hermoso and Balerdi.
