Getafe eye Sergio Ramos as they complete Dani Carvajal signing
Getafe have just secured right‑back Dani Carvajal while simultaneously signalling interest in former captain Sergio Ramos, a contrast that pits a confirmed arrival against a speculative pursuit. The club announced Carvajal’s contract on Tuesday and, days later, president Ángel Torres confirmed talks about Ramos, who has been club‑less since leaving Monterrey in México at the end of 2025.
Carvajal joins on a long‑term deal
Dani Carvajal, 34, signed a contract that runs until June 2027 after ending a 13‑year spell with Real Madrid. The former Real Madrid full‑back spent eight seasons alongside Ramos, winning four Champions League titles. Their reunion at Getafe would mark the first time the duo have played together since Carvajal’s departure from the capital.
Ramos remains on the transfer list
Ángel Torres told the programme "Tablero Deportivo" on Rádio Nacional that he has spoken with René Ramos, the defender’s brother and agent, about a possible move. Torres said Sergio Ramos, now 40, is on Getafe’s list of potential reinforcements, although strengthening the defence is not a current priority.
The president explained that head coach José Bordalás prefers to address the flanks first, noting the squad already contains six centre‑backs. "We have six centre‑backs. It was not a position the coach needed to reinforce at this moment. He wanted players for the wings, but it is not too late," Torres said.

Torres added that discussions could be revived during the January transfer window. He stressed that while Ramos is not a priority, the club does not rule out reopening talks later in the season.
Ramos last played competitively on 6 December 2025, when Monterrey lost 3‑2 to Toluca in the Apertura semifinals of the Mexican league. Since that defeat he has remained unattached and has not announced retirement.

Real Madrid’s 4‑1 victory over Sevilla in the ninth round of the Spanish league was mentioned in the same broadcast, underscoring the continued relevance of both former Real players in Spanish football.
