Chiariello's glowing take on Napoli-Celta Vigo sparks debate

Journalist Umberto Chiariello posted a post‑match analysis of the Napoli‑Celta Vigo clash on his YouTube channel, describing the first 20‑25 minutes as a period that "made his eyes sparkle" and noting his overall positive impression of the Italian side.

Chiariello's first‑half enthusiasm

He travelled to Castel di Sangro eager to see Massimiliano Allegri’s line‑up and to gauge how the "azzurri" are developing under the new manager. Chiariello highlighted the opening 20‑25 minutes, calling the ball movement beautiful and praising Politano and Di Lorenzo for their devastating play.

He added that when Napoli fields a complete midfield, “there is no one left” and that the early phase left him with “extremely positive sensations”.

Midfield critiques and player notes

Chiariello criticised Kevin De Bruyne’s adaptability, saying he was being used as a second Modrić and that he does not see the forward position. He also noted Gilmour’s lack of condition, explaining it was normal after a recent return to training.

He found Vergara unconvincing and chaotic, while suggesting that Antonio remains frantic in his choices and must become clearer in the final 30 metres, ideally playing as a trequartista in a 4‑2‑3‑1 shape.

According to Chiariello, Zambo Anguissa is currently the fittest Napoli player, whereas David Neres is hampered by physical problems but remains dangerous when fit. He warned that Alex Meret must stop taking risks with the ball, especially when it is not intended for De Bruyne.

Chiariello expressed sympathy for Lorenzo Lucca, describing him as psychologically blocked and burdened by the Napoli shirt. He also observed that Højlund is improving but still needs to sharpen his finishing to become more ruthless in front of goal.

The commentary appeared alongside a Google Discover snippet titled “Fonti preferite” and carried the Stampa A− A+ label, linking the analysis to the broader media platform.
