€3 million per season: why Gianluca Mancini’s Roma extension matters

🇮🇹

Gianluca Mancini has been offered a three‑year contract extension by AS Roma that would earn him €3 million plus bonuses each season, while his current deal runs out on 30 June 2027. The defender, a key leader in Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, has been waiting for answers after negotiations stalled.

Mancini, wearing number 23, has become one of the leaders of the Giallorossi defence and has delivered crucial goals, including a brace in the derby against Lazio. His contributions have helped Roma maintain a competitive edge in Serie A.

Speaking to Sky a few weeks ago, Mancini said, “Negotiations are ongoing, I’m waiting.” He added, “The people involved, my agent, myself, and the club are there: we’re talking and we’ll continue to do so. I’m waiting for answers and we’ll see what happens.”

Corriere dello Sport reported that his agent Riso believed a deal was already sealed in January, but Roma prioritized other matters, causing the talks to stall. The delay has left the defender uncertain about his future.

Inter have renewed inquiries about Mancini, yet Gasperini dismissed any transfer speculation, stating, “He’s not leaving, so Inter can do whatever they want.” The Nerazzurri’s attention underscores Mancini’s market value.

Mancini’s €3 million per‑season offer reflects a growing trend among Serie A clubs to secure key players with lucrative extensions rather than pursue costly transfers. Roma’s focus on contract renewals highlights the club’s strategy to stabilise its squad amid competing priorities.
