Saint-Étienne's promotion push gains Danish winger Jakob Breum

🇫🇷

Saint-Étienne have secured the signing of Danish winger Jakob Breum, ending his three‑year spell with Go Ahead Eagles, to reinforce their attack as they chase promotion this season from Ligue 2. The 20‑goal, 17‑assist player will wear the number ten shirt.

Saint-Étienne missed out on promotion last season after losing the play‑off against OGC Nice. The club therefore seeks an attacking upgrade to revive its bid for a top‑flight return.

Breum arrived in the summer of 2024 from Danish side Odense BK to join Go Ahead Eagles. During three seasons in Deventer he helped the Dutch club capture the KNVB Cup and featured in their Europa League campaign.

The Dane recorded 105 appearances for Go Ahead, contributing 20 goals and 17 assists. His output established him as a key creative outlet in the Eredivisie side.

Go Ahead Eagles are reported to receive several million euros for the transfer. Upon joining Saint-Étienne, Breum will be assigned the number ten jersey.

Saint-Étienne, traditionally known as Les Verts, have won ten French league titles, the most recent in 1981. The club was relegated to Ligue 2 in 2025, making the current promotion push crucial.

With Breum added to the squad, Saint-Étienne aim to secure promotion in the upcoming campaign. They will need to integrate the Danish winger quickly while competing against well‑funded rivals in Ligue 2.
