Tottenham's pursuit of Gakpo fuels De Zerbi's summer ambitions

Tottenham Hotspur have signalled a keen interest in Liverpool’s Dutch winger Cody Gakpo for the upcoming summer window, according to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast. Gakpo, 27, finished last season with Liverpool after 52 appearances, nine goals and six assists.

Romano noted that the Dutch winger’s dribbling, dangerous wide runs and long‑range shooting make him one of the most productive wide players in the Premier League, and his ability to also play as a centre‑forward adds tactical flexibility.

His contract at Anfield runs until the summer of 2030, a factor that could make it difficult for Tottenham to acquire him on a reduced fee this summer. His nine goals and six assists last campaign underline his contribution to Liverpool’s attack.

Romano added on the Here We Go podcast that he expects Tottenham to sign two players this window and will still keep an eye on Gakpo. He said, “In a separate story [to Savinho], because I expect Tottenham to sign two players, I would still keep an eye on Tottenham and Cody Gakpo, because he’s another player they like.”

Will Gakpo be a good choice for De Zerbi? At 27, the player is entering his prime, familiar with the Premier League, and could add quality and depth to the Tottenham Hotspur frontline, challenging for regular first‑team football.
