Manchester City target Marseille’s Rulli As Trafford heads to Leeds
Manchester City are preparing to sign French goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from Marseille to replace Leeds-bound James Trafford, who is set to leave the Etihad Stadium for Leeds United, transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano says, in a move aimed at shoring up the Cityzens' goalkeeping options ahead of the new Premier League season.
City need a new goalkeeper because Trafford is poised to join Leeds United, and Rulli’s record of eight clean sheets in 29 Ligue 1 appearances, a +1.10 goals prevented metric and regular involvement in Marseille’s UEFA Champions League campaign makes him an attractive option.
If the deal is completed before the new season, Rulli would likely serve as backup to Gianluigi Donnarumma, preserving depth at the Etihad, while Marseille, aware of the Premier League interest, prepare for the possible loss of their French goalkeeper.
