Real Madrid cash in €50m as Premier League Fulham sign La Fabrica duo

Fulham have completed a €50 million double signing, bringing Real Madrid’s La Fabrica graduates Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios to the London Premier League side on five‑year contracts. The deal, confirmed on Monday, sees both players linked to the club until the summer of 2031.

Fulham moved to reinforce a midfield that has been left thin after recent departures, and former Real Madrid head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, now in charge at the club, personally requested both signings. The arrivals underline Arbeloa’s intention to surround himself with familiar La Fabrica talent despite no longer working at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have enjoyed a very busy summer, and the €50 million double deal adds to the momentum created by earlier signings. While the Spanish giants continue to wait for the arrivals of Yan Diomande and Rodri, they remain active in the market.

Both players signed five‑year contracts that run until the summer of 2031, with Gonzalo Garcia’s agreement including an option to extend for a further twelve months. The announcements were staggered on social media, with Garcia revealed first via X and, thirty minutes later, Palacios confirmed.

The total fee of €50 million was originally reported as €70 million for Garcia and €10 million for Palacios, later corrected to €40 million, before the final figure was settled. The money provides Los Blancos with additional funds despite the players not being expected to feature prominently for new head coach Jose Mourinho.

Real Madrid retained a 30% sell‑on clause on both players and did not insert a buy‑back clause. A matching‑rights clause for Gonzalo Garcia allows the Spanish club to match any future Premier League offer for him.
