Odegaard stays at Arsenal as Galatasaray move collapses
Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard will remain at the club this summer after reports of his imminent move to Galatasaray were firmly denied. The Norway captain has played three full 90-minute games in five World Cup appearances so far in Qatar.
Reports claiming Odegaard’s agent had reached personal terms with Galatasaray in Istanbul were dismissed by Sam Dean. Tom Canton confirmed the rumours had no foundation, stating Odegaard’s agent was with him in the United States during the tournament.
Odegaard’s fitness has been a recurring issue for Arsenal over the past 12 months, but Mikel Arteta and the squad have continued to support him. Canton added that the player is believed to be very happy at Arsenal, with the club equally pleased with his progress.

Norway’s progress at the World Cup means Odegaard’s summer break is being pushed back further. A victory over England this weekend would see Norway remain in the tournament until at least July 18, with the possibility of a final on July 19.
From there, a minimum three-week recovery period would delay his return to London, potentially missing Arsenal’s pre-season friendly against Como 1907. While Odegaard’s fitness gains are encouraging, the extended absence could have consequences for his club preparations ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
