Inter’s defensive gamble: Cordoba backs Stones while chasing Romero

Inter Milan are racing to overhaul a defence thinned by recent exits, with former defender Ivan Cordoba hailing English centre‑back John Stones as a perfect fit while still urging the Nerazzurri to clinch Argentine defender Cristian Romero, a move that would complete the rebuild despite a lingering right‑wing‑back vacancy.

Ivan Cordoba praised Stones as a "huge deal" and a "classic Marotta move", calling the English centre‑back an ideal addition for the Nerazzurri.

John Stones will join Inter as a free agent after leaving Manchester City; his medical is scheduled for Thursday and he is expected to sign a two‑year contract at San Siro.

Cordoba also urged the Nerazzurri to secure Argentine defender Cristian Romero, describing him as an excellent addition, and confirmed that Inter remain in talks with Tottenham for his signature.

The club is still searching for a right wing‑back after Denzel Dumfries moved to Real Madrid for €20 million, a vacancy that adds urgency to the defensive recruitment drive.
