The 2027 expiry of Karim Benzema’s contract is at the centre of a standoff with his Riyadh‑based club Al‑Hilal. The French striker has refused to depart the Saudi Pro League (SPL) side despite the club’s attempts to force him out, SPORT reports.

Benzema joined Al‑Hilal on a free transfer in January after moving to the SPL in 2023. He arrived from Real Madrid, ending a glittering spell with the Spanish giants.
