€100m price tag stalls Barcelona’s Premier League hunt for Kroupi

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

€100 million is the price tag that has stopped FC Barcelona from pursuing Premier League striker Eli Junior Kroupi, as the Catalans search for a long‑term successor to Robert Lewandowski while still chasing Argentine forward Julian Alvarez in a market where valuations are soaring and the club remains cautious about overspending.

Barcelona continue their pursuit of Argentine forward Julian Alvarez without a breakthrough, and the Catalans face a looming void left by Robert Lewandowski, prompting them to scout Premier League talent such as 20‑year‑old French striker Eli Junior Kroupi. Negotiations between the Catalans and Atletico Madrid over the Argentine have reached a stalemate with no change in sight. Consequently Barcelona have begun looking at other forwards as potential long‑term replacements for Lewandowski.

One of the latest names to emerge is Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi, a 20‑year‑old French forward monitored throughout the past season alongside other leading young attackers across Europe. Bournemouth’s asking price is reported at around €100 million, which the Premier League club regards as the starting point for any negotiations, and Barcelona have made clear they will not meet that valuation, noting it matches the amount they offered Atletico for Alvarez.

Kroupi impressed during the 2025‑26 campaign after joining Bournemouth from Lorient, scoring 13 Premier League goals under manager Andoni Iraola, placing him among the league’s emerging attacking talents. Despite his club form, Kroupi has yet to make his senior debut for the French national team, indicating he is still establishing himself at the highest level, and he joined Bournemouth from Lorient before the season began.

The Blaugrana maintain that a €100 million outlay will only be justified for a proven world‑class striker, a standard they feel Kroupi has not yet reached compared with Alvarez or players such as Ronaldo, and therefore Kroupi is not currently viewed as a realistic target as Barcelona continue to assess attacking options for Lewandowski’s long‑term replacement.
