Xavi warns: The danger of Greece in the Nations League

During the press conference ahead of the upcoming Nations League match against Greece, Dutch national team coach Xavi Hernández warns that the Netherlands must be careful against Greece's six points, the only country that sits top after two games. He emphasizes that the Greeks are physically strong and can play dangerously.

Greek strength according to Xavi

Xavi Hernández points out that Greece is the only country that has collected six points from two games. He added: “They were by far the better side against Serbia and defended excellently against Germany.”

He praised the Greek squad as a truly good team with a lot of individual talent, especially in attack. “They are physically strong; they can play long balls to win the second balls. They are very dangerous, and that is why they sit top of this group,” Xavi said.

The upcoming match takes place on Thursday evening in Thessaloniki, where the Netherlands will face Greece in the Nations League. Both teams are looking for points to improve their position in the group.

Netherlands‑watcher Martijn Krabbendam notes that the absence of Jan Paul van Hecke and Lutsharel Geertruida puts defensive options under pressure. He discusses possible adjustments that Xavi could consider.

Xavi's warning underlines that the Netherlands must play carefully so as not to surprise the Greeks. A sloppy performance could seriously damage their chances of topping the group.
