Vincent Kompany remains vague about Harry Kane's future at Bayern

Vincent Kompany, sporting director of Bayern Munich, remained evasive in an interview with Sky Sport this week regarding Harry Kane's future, who is entering the final year of his contract after scoring more than sixty goals last season.

Harry Kane's Statistics

Harry Kane finished the previous season with sixty‑one contributions, including sixty goals and seven assists, in fifty‑one matches across all competitions. The English international, with one hundred twenty‑five caps, has already been involved in eight decisive actions since the restart of the Bundesliga.

Kompany's Statements and Bayern's Outlook

Arriving from Tottenham in the summer of 2023 for ninety‑five million euros, the thirty‑three‑year‑old striker signed a four‑year contract, valid until June 30, 2027. This season marks a turning point in his Bavarian adventure, placing him at a crossroads between extending his stay at the Allianz Arena or leaving the club at the end of the campaign.

Bayern Munich clearly wants to extend the contract of its star striker, but Kompany kept a cautious attitude during the interview. The sporting director said he was “always respectful of this situation and the necessary discussions between the player, his agent and the club,” quoting “Vince the Prince” in the official statement.

He added that his responsibility was to ensure that Harry feels comfortable, performs on the pitch, and develops in a conducive environment. “Generally, if all these things are done well, the rest falls into place more easily,” Kompany smiled.

In case the extension fails, Bayern has already identified several targets, including Victor Osimhen, former Zèbre, mentioned a few months ago. However, Osimhen's situation in Turkey and the club's needs indicate that he will not be the only name linked to Kane's succession if the latter were to leave.
