Bayern eye Vuskovic as Tottenham misstep opens defensive gap
Bayern Munich are eyeing a long‑term solution to a looming centre‑back vacancy, and Brighton’s Luka Vuskovic has emerged as a prime candidate. The Croatian impressed during a Bundesliga loan with Hamburg and, despite a hoped‑for Tottenham role, now finds himself at Brighton, drawing interest from the German giants.
Bayern's defensive reshuffle
Bayern’s back‑line could open up if they off‑load Min‑jae Kim or Hiroki Ito, as German football expert Christian Falk notes. Such departures would free both space and money for a new defender, making Vuskovic an attractive prospect.
The club previously lacked the financial bandwidth to pursue the Croatian, Falk explained in his CF Bayern Insider column. Nonetheless, Bayern have monitored Vuskovic for some time, keeping him on a shortlist as his development continues.
Vuskovic's rise and Tottenham misstep
Vuskovic shone last season on loan at Hamburg, earning praise for his performances in the Bundesliga. His form suggested a regular place in Tottenham’s squad this term, yet Spurs surprised by selling the Croatia international to Brighton.
At Brighton, Vuskovic has continued to impress, prompting interest from several big clubs. His progress keeps Bayern among the teams tracking his trajectory.
“It is TRUE: Bayern Munich are among the clubs keeping an eye on Luka Vušković’s development at Brighton,” Falk said. “Both sides have a history; Vušković was offered to FC Bayern before he made the step to the Premier League.”
“Of course, he’s young and has plenty of time to develop further, so it’s natural he’d still be on the list. If they sell Min‑jae Kim or Hiroki Ito, there will be a place and the money available to sign a new defender,” Falk added.
For now, Bayern are not in a position to make an offer, but they remain committed to monitoring Vuskovic’s progress. Should the defensive vacancies materialise, the Croatian could become a concrete target for the German club.
