Van den Brom sticks with same XI as Twente chase comeback in Hungary

🇳🇱 By 4AllFootball ·

John van den Brom announced that FC Twente will field the identical starting eleven that played at the Grolsch Veste for the return leg against Hungarian side Ferencváros, as the Dutch side seek to overturn a 1‑2 first‑leg deficit in Hungary.

Speaking on camera for , the Tukkers’ coach said the team must be more solid in ball possession and improve the final pass that creates scoring chances. He added that defending around the five‑meter line and within their own sixteen‑meter area also needs tightening to prevent opposition threats.

Van den Brom emphasized increasing the number of chances created, noting that it often comes down to the last pass and that this aspect must be sharper.

The manager said the clear playing style has been executed well by most of the boys, and with enough options on the bench he can express confidence in the players for Thursday’s match.

He confirmed that the same eleven will start, describing the decision as a way to show trust in the squad for the first match of the second leg.

Wout Weghorst, who signed with FC Twente this summer, failed to score at the Grolsch Veste against Ferencváros, and Van den Brom expects him to be better served as a “predator in the sixteen‑meter area” in Hungary.

The coach believes that, although the partnership is new and automatic movements are still developing, they can quickly turn around and that the team is more than just Weghorst.
