Tenerife mourns striker after fatal collision with Andorra keeper

Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel died Tuesday following an in‑pitch collision during Monday’s game, the club said. The 30‑year‑old forward was involved in a brutal clash with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono in the closing seconds.
The collision occurred around midfield as the match against Andorra drew to a close. Owono received a red card and began walking off the pitch. De Miguel initially lay with his head and knees on the grass, then turned onto his back and became motionless, prompting an opposing player to call for help.
When Owono realised the seriousness, he stopped leaving the field and turned back to check on de Miguel. The goalkeeper now faces a suspension for the incident.
The match did not continue after the incident. De Miguel was taken to hospital, where he was first described as stable despite the severity of his condition.
Later that day Tenerife said his condition had worsened neurologically. On Tuesday morning the club confirmed his death at 8:00 a.m. on 3 November 2026.
