Surprising remarks see Uli Hoeneß praise Bayern boss Vincent Kompany
In an interview full of surprising statements, Uli Hoeneß declared he could "derzeit keinen besseren Trainer vorstellen" and added, "Wenn er morgen auf uns zukäme und das möchte, würde ich persönlich das sofort machen." The Bayern chief said he would even extend the contract today if the Belgian wanted it.
Contract extension thoughts
Hoeneß told the press, "Neulich habe ich Vincent gesagt, dass wir seinen Vertrag eigentlich jetzt schon verlängern müssten, obwohl sein aktueller bis 2029 gilt." He stressed that the current deal runs until 2029 but the club already feels the need to act.
Vincent Kompany took over Bayern in the summer of 2024 and has since driven a very positive development on the Säbener Straße. Under his guidance the club secured two league titles and, after a six‑year drought, lifted the DFB‑Pokal last season.

The side also reached the Champions League semi‑final in 2025/26, bowing out narrowly to eventual winners Paris Saint‑Germain. Kompany first signed his extension in October of the previous year, committing him to 2029, and there were Manchester City had previously shown interest.
Health concerns now dominate headlines. The coach suffered a virus infection, collapsed on Friday afternoon while watching the reserve team train and was rushed to a Munich hospital. Bayern announced he is being "eingehend untersucht und in medizinischer Obhut bleiben" and that his staff will run training and match preparations for the time being.
