Salah begins a new chapter in Portugal with Casa Pia

The 22-year-old Belgian winger Mohamed Salah begins a new chapter in Portugal, moving from Belgian top‑flight club Lommel SK to Casa Pia. While he shone in Belgium as a consistent attacking player, the move to the Primeira Liga represents the next developmental step of his career.

Path through Belgian youth academies

In his youth career, Mohamed Salah went through the youth academies of Zulte Waregem, Union Sint‑Gillis and FC Brugge. In the summer of 2024 he moved from Club NXT to Lommel SK and quickly developed into an important part of the team.

At Club NXT he scored four goals and provided five assists in 22 appearances. For the U23 of Union Sint‑Gillis he amassed 27 games and three goals, and he also featured twice for Union’s senior team.

Successful years at Lommel

In two years the attacking player completed a total of 67 league matches for Lommel SK, scoring twelve goals. He also delivered eleven assists and was among the most consistent attacking forces in the squad. His steady performances at Lommel enabled his move to a European top league.

In the summer of 2026 Salah signed a contract until 2030 with Portuguese top‑flight club Casa Pia. Coach Filipe Coelho, who took over the role in the summer, sees him as a developable reinforcement for the attack. The long‑term contract until 2030 gives the Belgian security and playing time.

For Lommel the transfer means the loss of a key performer who contributed significantly to the club’s positive development. With twelve goals and eleven assists in 67 appearances he leaves a strong record in Limburg.

The two‑time Belgian U20 international has already gained international experience, which further strengthens his profile. This experience should help him establish himself in the Portuguese league.

The contrast between his continuous progression in the Belgian youth and top‑flight sectors and the jump to the technically demanding Primeira Liga highlights the next developmental step of his career. The player now looks forward to the new challenge. He hopes to further develop his attacking qualities in the Primeira Liga.
