Rumours dismissed: Bayern Munich refute Kounde pursuit
Rumours that Bayern Munich are targeting Barcelona defender Jules Kounde have been dismissed after the German club issued a statement confirming it is not pursuing the French full‑back, despite speculation linking the Bavarians to the player. The clarification came after the story first emerged earlier this week.
Links between Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona appeared out of the blue, prompting speculation that the Bavarians had contacted the player’s representatives. The sudden buzz suggested the Germans might have explored Kounde’s contractual situation.
Florian Plettenberg reported the rumours were wide of the mark and the Germans have not opened any talks with the Frenchman. No negotiations are underway despite earlier the Bavarians contacted Kounde’s agents.
Kounde’s recent dip in form at Barcelona initially sparked the speculation, while his showing at the World Cup highlighted his value. The Catalans lack quality replacements, and both Hansi Flick’s Barcelona and Didier Deschamps’ France view the Frenchman as indispensable.
Kounde does not intend to leave Barcelona, and the club is not labeling him a top departure candidate. Al Bello/Getty Images captured the sentiment, and Eric Alonso/Getty highlighted his importance to both club and country.
While Bayern may revisit defensive options as the window progresses, the German side currently shows no interest in the French defender. Bavarians’ peripheral radar keeps him in view but without immediate action.
