Roma suffer a comeback defeat to Manchester United, Gasp denounces

Yesterday afternoon at Old Trafford, Roma closed the first half with a two‑goal lead, but the Red Devils turned the match around in the second half. The comeback suffered against Real Madrid was not enough. On that occasion Roma had taken a two‑goal advantage before conceding the comeback.
The same script unfolded against Manchester United, with the giallorossi erasing the two‑goal lead built at the end of an excellent first half. In the second half, however, the drop was evident.
The penalty, highly questionable, was converted by Bruno Fernandes. Matheus Cunha’s brace completed the Red Devils’ comeback, extending Roma’s negative streak at Old Trafford.
“At the moment they raised the tempo, we failed to find the right counter‑measures. We could have done more,” Gian Piero Gasperini said in the press conference.
“It’s also true that these little penalties were hoped to disappear from Italy, yet we have to see them in Europe. It’s something that really annoys us. These episodes have changed the result,” the giallorosso coach added.
