Rodri pulls out with injury before clash with Atletico

On Tuesday, NOVEMBER 03 (in November), in the MD4 Phase of the UEFA Champions League between FC Barcelona and Aston Villa at the Camp Nou, Barcelona, Spain (SPAIN), Hansi Flick substituted Rodri for Marc Bernal at halftime, after reporting that the midfielder felt discomfort in his right calf before the clash against Atletico Madrid.
Rodri, World Cup winner, did not show an obvious injury in the first half. However, sources reported that he was experiencing some discomfort, which prompted Flick's change on Tuesday.
Moises Llorens wrote on X: “Rodri, discomfort in the calf of the right leg.” That information confirms the reported discomfort.
Precaution before the clash against Atletico
The substitution is seen as a preventive measure. Barcelona faces Atletico Madrid this weekend.
Barcelona host Aston Villa in Champions League
This season, Flick has been reluctant to rotate Rodri, despite having several options in midfield. The decision underscores the coach's confidence in the midfielder.
Rodri has featured in all matches except one. He has started eight La Liga games and three Champions League matches.
On Saturday, the midfielder played the full 90 minutes in the 6-1 victory over Alavés. Some consider that decision unnecessary.
Barcelona hopes the discomfort is minor. They trust that Rodri will be available for the clash against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
