Real Madrid triggers crucial contract extension with Jude Bellingham

Real Madrid wants to secure the future of its midfielder and, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, a new five‑year contract with Jude Bellingham is in the making. The 23‑year‑old Englishman, who is currently tied until 2029, would according to Romano be formally extended to 2031 by the end of the week.
Contract details and confirmation
Romano confirmed the extension after earlier reports in the Spanish media and a mention by Diario AS on Friday. In a video on X he said that a verbal agreement has been reached and that all formalities need to be completed next week. The new contract will, according to sources, be “significantly improved” compared with the current agreement.
Bellingham's impact at the club
So far Bellingham has played 150 matches for Real Madrid, in which he scored 49 goals and provided 36 assists. He has won, among other things, the Champions League in the 2023/2024 season with the club, a achievement he attained against his former club Borussia Dortmund.
The player is regarded by both the club and manager José Mourinho as a crucial part of the team, with the relationship between them described as “fantastic”. The extension is seen as a strategic move to ensure the quality of the squad in the long term.
