Real Madrid and Leipzig face each other with the golden triangle

Santiago Bernabéu will host on Tuesday 21 October 2026 the UEFA Champions League clash between Real Madrid and Red Bull Leipzig, with the whistle scheduled for 21:00 Spanish time. The white club has released its starting eleven, with Vinicius on the left wing and Mbappé among the forwards.

The announced eleven

The official lineup shows Courtois between the posts, Valverde, Rüdiger, Huijsen and Carreras in defence, while Bernardo and Camavinga make up the midfield. On the right wing Güler and Bellingham operate, and up front are Vinicius and the Frenchman Mbappé. Leipzig's opponent has not yet confirmed its XI, although Vandevoordt is mentioned as goalkeeper.

Tomás Roncero praised the decision to include the “golden triangle”: Bernardo, Güler and Bellingham. “I think it’s good that finally the triangle of magic, the golden triangle plays: Bernardo, Güler and Bellingham,” the analyst said. He also valued Valverde’s presence as right‑back, noting that the other full‑backs must recognise his quality.

Luis Nieto, for his part, highlighted the prudence of keeping Vinicius in the eleven while Diomande remains on the bench. He commented that the coach avoids hype and that the combination of Valverde, Güler, Bellingham and Mbappé provides versatility. He also highlighted the addition of Rüdiger and Carreras as defensive rotations and the Camavinga‑Bernardo axis as a hybrid engine.
