Rayo players blame Comunidad over Vallecas stadium closure

Rayo Vallecano players celebrated a hard‑won victory over Estrasburgo with their supporters, then broke their silence with a joint statement condemning the temporary closure of the Estadio de Vallecas and demanding action from the Comunidad de Madrid before La Liga begins.

The communiqué, released through EFE, highlighted the club’s precarious situation after the stadium was shut down temporarily. Players said the closure jeopardises the team’s ability to host matches in its historic home.

In the statement, the footballers called for “stability and tranquility” only days before the season’s kickoff. They stressed that a secure environment is essential for competing in La Liga.

“The first‑team squad wants to express, above all, our desire and will to keep playing in Vallecas, alongside our people and in our stadium,” the players wrote. They described playing in front of their fans as a fundamental part of wearing the Rayo shirt.

“This situation directly affects our people – thousands of supporters who fill Vallecas every fifteen days to cheer the Rayo Vallecano,” the players said. They demanded safety guarantees and facilities that match the club’s history.

“All we want is stability and tranquility to keep competing and proudly represent this badge,” the squad affirmed, recalling the club’s more than 100‑year legacy. They urged those responsible to act solely for the good of Rayo Vallecano and its community.

“The fans are one of the club’s most important assets and we would love to see management and harmony with them change direction,” the players declared. They emphasized that a healthy relationship with supporters is vital for the club’s future.
