Ravenna set 46‑year‑old Ronaldinho’s comeback for 15 November at Bruno Benelli

Former Brazil midfielder Ronaldinho, now 46, will line up for Ravenna in Serie C on 15 November against Forlì, the club confirmed on Friday (23). The appearance marks his first official match since 2015 and follows a 2021 interview with the European newspaper Mundo.

Match details and regional rivalry

The game will be played at the Bruno Benelli Stadium in Ravenna, kicking off at 13:30 Brasilia time. Both sides hail from the Emilia‑Romagna region, adding a local flavour to the 14th‑round fixture.

Club ambitions and commercial moves

Ravenna sit second in Group B of Serie C with 20 points, while Forlì occupy 14th place. Ronaldinho signed a contract with the club in June and acquired a minority share, a move presented as part of a project to raise the club’s international profile and attract investment.

President Ignazio Cipriani said the initiative aims to bring the city closer to the team and strengthen ties with supporters. Vice‑president Ariedo Braida, who helped bring Ronaldinho to Milan in 2008, initially treated the comeback with caution, noting that his ability to play for Ravenna was not guaranteed at the time of signing.

Braida later stopped dismissing the possibility, and the club has launched commercial activities linked to the star’s image, including official Panini stickers.

Ronaldinho’s last official appearance came in 2015 for Fluminense; he formally retired in 2018 after a career that featured spells at Barcelona and Milan (2008‑2011), a 2002 World Cup win with Brazil and the 2005 Ballon d’Or.

“A magia nunca foi embora”

The club’s social‑media post celebrated the Brazilian’s return with that message, underscoring the symbolic importance of his comeback to Italian football.
