PSV's defensive shake‑up: Obispo heads to Lens as Nagalo eyes Turkey

🇳🇱 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

PSV have confirmed that 27‑year‑old centre‑back Armando Obispo will leave the Eindhoven club after twenty years to join French side RC Lens, while 23‑year‑old defender Adamo Nagalo is set for a move to Turkey, with a transfer to Corum FK highly probable.

Lens, based in France, initially tabled a bid of roughly €4 million for Obispo, who had only one year left on his contract. PSV pressed for a higher fee, causing protracted negotiations. The clubs finally agreed on a sum close to €5.5 million.

Provided he passes the medical, Obispo will sign a multi‑year deal with Lens. The agreement guarantees him participation in the Champions League, as Lens qualified as the French runners‑up. The move marks his first senior contract abroad.

Obispo entered PSV’s youth academy as a child and later represented the Curaçao national team. He amassed 130 first‑team appearances and 43 matches for the club’s youth sides. Last season he featured regularly under manager Peter Bosz and spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Vitesse.

Nagalo, a Burkinese‑Ivorian, has been deemed surplus at PSV and was listed for sale last winter before a loan spell at Konyaspor. This summer the club is preparing a permanent exit, with Corum FK in Turkey emerging as the likely destination. Discussions between PSV and the Turkish side suggest a transfer is imminent.

PSV originally invested about €7 million in Nagalo during the summer of 2024, acquiring him from Nordjsaelland. He featured in only twelve matches, often for brief periods, before falling out of favour. The club expects to retain a few million euros from his sale, despite his contract running until mid‑2029.

The updates were reported by journalist Tim Reedijk and VIArmando earlier today. PSV’s defensive overhaul therefore concludes with the departures of both Obispo and Nagalo.
