Oliver Kahn warns Julian Nagelsmann about Manchester United
Oliver Kahn advises the young coach Julian Nagelsmann to be cautious when choosing his next employer. The former Bayern boss warns against a move to Manchester United, which, according to Kahn, is in a deep crisis and whose coach Michael Carrick is under strong pressure.
Manchester United is in crisis
Manchester United has recorded only one win from three games in the Champions League. After a 1-4 defeat to Como 1907, coach Michael Carrick came under even stronger criticism. In the Premier League, the club sits in 13th place after just one win from seven matches. Everyone at the club feels the increasing pressure.
The ongoing losing streak raises doubts about Carrick's long‑term suitability. Observers see the result as a sign that United has yet to find a stable coach who can lead the team out of the difficult situation. Many fans are already calling for an immediate coaching change.
Nagelsmann on the succession list
The British Telegraph reported that Julian Nagelsmann would be at the top of the English clubs' candidate list after Michael Carrick's departure. Kahn emphasized that Nagelsmann should be open to an offer if he gets the chance to take over a top club.
Oliver Kahn once brought Nagelsmann to FC Bayern and described him at the time as a promising boss. After his dismissal as national coach following the World Cup, Kahn stated that Nagelsmann has no major overseas experience and therefore his situation is not simple. He stresses that experience abroad is crucial for a top club.
In an RTL/Sky Sport broadcast, Kahn asked: “What is my next step now? Does he have to sit? Or do I link him directly with an enormous risk like Manchester United, where basically every coach in recent years has failed sooner or later?”
Kahn concludes that Nagelsmann should examine all options before making a decision, and reminds that a misstep at Manchester United can quickly lead to a setback.
