Noah Fernandez, PSV's Belgian prodigy to face Bruges in Champions League

Noah Fernandez, the 18‑year‑old midfielder of PSV, will face Club Brugge this Wednesday 4 November 2026 at 9 p.m. in the Champions League under the direction of Peter Bosz.
He was born to a father of Jamaican roots and a Belgian mother, and he said he wants to win the Champions League with Barça and the World Cup with the Red Devils, answering “Yes, with the Red Devils” in an interview.
Originally from Heist‑op‑den‑Berg, he aims to follow in the footsteps of Johan Bakayoko, Dries Mertens, Timmy Simons, Luc Nilis and Éric Gerets to continue the Belgian tradition at PSV.
After a brief spell at Lierse, he joined Eindhoven, sometimes compares himself to Noa Lang and lives alone near the club’s training centre.
Career and ambitions
Fernandez joined PSV’s academy in 2014; every day he gets up at 5 a.m., travels 1 hour 30 minutes by car provided by the club, and returns at 7 p.m., the journey being covered by a driver.
The host‑family arrangement is not ideal, but on the pitch he quickly established himself as one of the greatest jewels of De Herdgang.
Ben Kinds, who coached him in U17, states that the club has invested heavily in him, that he was playing above his level, that he is a diamond of the academy and that a large photo of him now adorns the corridors.
Kinds describes the young player as impassive, introverted, very confident and possessing a certain poise, noting that he likes skateboarding.

Role and prospects
Kinds, now heading the youth setup at Sparta Rotterdam, believes that Fernandez’s confidence is both a great strength and a flaw, seeing him rely too much on his talent.
He mainly sees him as a number 8 midfielder, a box‑to‑box player capable of creativity, covering great distances, dribbling and possessing a delightful left foot.
He can also play as a number 10, but he tends to pull the game too low, and as a number 6 he takes too many risks, especially in big matches.
To reach full maturity, he had to improve, particularly on the defensive side.
Kinds recalls their discussions about game choices, dribbling and one‑touch play; Fernandez listened but did not feel the need to act, which made him “a clever boy” who perhaps internalised the lessons without showing them.
Louis Janssen wrote a profile of the midfielder in the Sports Football section.
Club Brugge plays in the Jupiler Pro League, and the Champions League duel will test Fernandez under the orders of Peter Bosz.
The match is scheduled for 9 p.m. on 4 November 2026.
