McGinn gets 5.5 as Villa lose 3-0 at Nou Camp

McGinn gets 5.5 as Villa suffer Champions League night at Nou Camp, a disappointing loss vs Barcelona that leaves Aston Villa players rated under a harsh light, with Gomes also only managing a five.

Aston Villa clashed heads with Barcelona at the Nou Camp earlier tonight as they looked to secure a good result on the road in the UEFA Champions League. The Villans made a slow start and conceded the opening goal in the seventh minute when Lamine Yamal found the net.

Unai Emery’s men went into the half‑time break 1‑0 down. Raphinha scored a quick‑fire brace in the second half as the West Midlands club crashed to a 3‑0 defeat away from home.

Individual player ratings

Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki was rated 6/10 after a few solid saves but three goals were conceded. Right‑back Matty Cash earned a 6/10 for winning the ball back once and creating a chance.

Centre‑backs Victor Lindelof and Pau Torres each received 6/10 for clearances and passing accuracy. Left‑back Ian Maatsen was given 6.5/10 for his positive influence at both ends.

Midfielders Boubacar Kamara and Leon Goretzka both earned 6.5/10, while Joao Gomes was rated 5/10 after a costly error. Ross Barkley received 6/10 after a limited impact off the bench.

Attacking midfielder Emiliano Buendía was rated 6.5/10 for creating chances, and forward John McGinn got 5.5/10 for one crucial interception but little forward influence. Winger Johan Manzambi earned 6/10, Nicolas Jackson 6/10, and Ibrahim Mbaye 6.5/10 for occasional threats.
