Ma SSC Napoli's plea fails, Inter‑Napoli ban confirmed
The Italian Ministry of the Interior (Viminale) has confirmed that supporters of SSC Napoli who reside in Campania will be prohibited from travelling to the Inter‑Napoli clash at San Siro on 5 September, despite earlier permission for the Genoa‑Napoli fixture at Marassi.
The Viminale reiterated its policy of imposing travel bans on violent fan groups this season, describing the measure as a hard punch (‘pugno duro’) against disorderly supporters.
Earlier, officials granted permission for Campania residents to travel to the Genoa‑Napoli match at the Marassi stadium. That allowance applied specifically to the fixture against Genoa.
However, the Viminale now signals that the upcoming Inter‑Napoli clash on 5 September at San Siro will be subject to a definitive travel ban for those fans. The ban would prevent Napoli supporters residing in Campania from attending the match in Milan.

Alternative sanctions proposed
SSC Napoli, together with AC Milan and FC Inter, has formally requested alternative punishments instead of a travel ban. The club also opposes the closure of away sections, hoping those areas can be opened for home‑team ticket sales. Such a measure would let the major clubs monetize empty seats in the opponent’s stand by selling them to their own supporters.
The Viminale has already briefed Serie A clubs that a strict stance will be maintained against misbehaving fan groups throughout the season. The guidance was delivered during the league’s official meetings.
